One more spring storm appears to be headed our way in Fort Collins. Our changing weather highlights the need for adequate eyewear for rapidly changing visibility conditions. Transition lenses that darken in the sun are great except for driving. They are activated by UV (ultraviolet radiation) which your car windshield blocks a large percentage of. Magnetic sunglass clips that come with some frames allow added protection for driving over transition lenses. When the snow is falling anti-reflection coatings can help since they add about 10% to your vision (reflections in the lens scatter light and reduce eyesight). Under some snowy, cloudy conditions blue blocker type of tints (brown with orange) help in seeing better definition. Shooting enthusiasts often use these tints on cloudy days. Maybe even more important for good vision in the snow are new windoshield wipers. If you haven’t tried the winter wipers you are missing out. They are a tremendous enhancement for optimum vision in inclement weather.
