Myopia Prevention Lenses May Be Available Soon
Research on myopia prevention (nearsightedness) is moving forward at a brisk pace. Defocus (blurred vision) to the sides is thought to be a causative factor. Work is moving ahead by several different groups of eye doctors/ researchers on lenses that focus differently in the outer zones. Manipulating the peripheral zone of vision is thought to be essential in “re-programming” the eyes to prevent the development of nearsightedness. More research results are expected out this fall.
