If you are new to Fort Collins here are a few of my favorite things to do and places to go. Colorado State University has a summer theatre program every year and the tickets are very reasonably priced and the plays are fun. Horsetooth Mountain Park of Larimer County is a must do with a hike to the top of the Horsetooth.See the Bicycling Home Page-City of Fort Collins for information on the bike trails. Bicycling is a great way to get to know Fort Collins. With relatively flat terrain, 280+ miles of wide bike lanes, and 30+ miles of bike trails that follow the Poudre River you can’t go wrong-except maybe in a spring snowstorm! The Cathy Fromme Prairie is a great place for a short day hike or bike ride on the southwest side of Fort Collins. Spring Canyon Community Park Fort Collins is one of the newer city parks and has shelters and grills you can reserve in advance- it is a beautiful setting right by the foothills.The Fort Collins Coloradoan is the local newspaper and publishes information on events in town I may have missed.Don’t miss the new Fort Collins Public Library on Harmony-it even has a fireplace to relax and read by in comfy chairs.For a longer jaunt you can take a trip to Greeley and visit the other School Campus-The University of Northern Colorado. For a change of pace the Lyric is an alternative film theatre in old town Ft Collins with movies you probably haven’t seem. For a taste treat or catering visit Tastebuds Epicurean Suite on Lemay- it is a well kept secret in Ft. Collins. For music look for Vicki Pompea around town in the coffee shops.She has been called “a female John Denver” and peppers her performances with stories and humor. Excellent lyrics, intelligent musings and humorous observations are her trademark.If you can’t find what you want just look on craigslist fort Collins Colorado-and let me know your favorite and out of the ordinary things to see in Fort Collins.
